I am a huge proponent of article marketing. And while it is true that article marketing is great for the conduct of traffic, you can still use it even if you do not have your site up and running again. By distributing your articles offline, you begin to make a name yourself in your community or your specific niche.
Alright, I turn to the ends...
1 Do your keyword research.
Even before start writing your article, do a little keyword research, because you want your it found in search engines. But there is a bit of a stumbling stone when it comes to keywords. The long tail keywords are great for Google traffic, but the "regular" keywords are best for is found in article directories. It is kind of catch 22, n'est ce pas?
Here's my recommendation: when you are first starting in article marketing, use words "regular". This will allow webmasters and newsletters editors find you easily. Once they get used to your name, your writing style and the quality of your articles, they will start the search by name of the author for you. At this point, you can start going longtail. (It is similar to the main "know as trust" in marketing).
2. Use your keywords.
No, I am not sarcastic here. I have consulted with many entrepreneurs who thought a web page or an article or a PPC advertising has been optimized for a specific word, while in reality, he was not at all. The biggest because they were not sure what to do with the key words, once they have found.
You want to put your keywords in the title of your article, closer to beginning of the title as possible (just as do you for a web page). You want that your words to appear as close to the beginning of your first paragraph as possible and repeat once your first paragraph. And you want to see appear once in each of your paragraphs, as you can do naturally. The thing with article marketing is that publishers have pick up your article. If this seems forced or mechanical or "sticky sales" it will not be published. If the quality is more important than quantity.
3 Publish the article yourself first.
It is another huge step that many entrepreneurs forget. It is natural to get so excited by a great new article that you just wrote that you want to spread around and begin to distribute immediately. But wait! Give your own first dibs readers (and take advantage of all your hard work and effort!) Publish the article in your own newsletter and on your own blog first and then begin to distribute elsewhere. You can distribute your articles a week after that that they have been published in your own newsletter.
I had a few customers express a concern on the double content if they publish their articles on their blog and article directories also. But in reality, the duplicate content penalty comes when you place the same content on your site several times. If you don't have to worry about to publish your articles and distribute them elsewhere.
And a faster trick here regarding duplicate content - a mistake, I was in reality! If you publish your articles in your newsletter and your blog, head this warning: If you publish an HTML version of your newsletter you should always include an online version (if you read the HTML version, you'll see a link at the top of this newsletter which said "read online"). Be sure to refuse your newsletter directory in your robots text file.
When I moved our website to a new server a few months ago, I forgot to update the robots file. And since we published our articles on the blog and they also appear in the online version of our newsletters, we are slapped with a duplicate content penalty. And ouch! This never wrong! (If you have no idea of what I speak, just to mention this tip to your webmaster and she'll know exactly what you mean.) (And it will without doubt good laugh at my expense!)
4 Create the author a bio box.
Your author bio box is the only place that you get to "sell" your business so you want it to be very powerful. Make sure that your bio box (also known as, a resource box) is rich in benefits and compelling.
5 Distribute section online.
Even if you did have a website yet, I suggest again that you publish your article online. You will be configure yourself as an expert so you have "instant status" when will your site live. In addition, you can then add these articles to your Web site, so you have no content instant.
To get your articles distributed to several publishers (sometimes), use an article distribution service. Charge a fee, but for the amount of time you will save it is certainly worth the cost.
6 Distribute your article offline.
Article marketing is not just for the web. Once you have your article written, be sure to send off the coast of row as sources. There are tons of local and publications which are high-quality niche content craving. Make sure that your article is not as a sales pitch anyway.
